Hello Friends,
We are sure, you all remember, the unethical transfer of Fr. Leslie D’cunah, because he tried to uphold the CANON LAW. SILENT VOICE is pursuing this matter, on behalf of Parishioners. It is obvious from various letters to H. E. Cardinal Oswald Gracias, explaining the anomalies in Fr. Lesli’s Transfer and allowing Daily celebration of Eucharist, at Everard Nagar, the place where the Rich and Mighty dwell.

The Church authorities, as usual, are adamant and continue to persist with their decision to allow daily as well as Sunday mass (Saturday Evening), at a residential colony of Elites.
 We do not claim to be experts in Canon Law; but extracts incorporated in the attached letter to H. E. Cardinal Oswald Gracias clearly indicates, it is against CANON LAW, to celebrate Eucharist at the place other than Church, unless there is dire necessity to do so. Archbishop is yet to respond to this letter.
The Parishioners of OL of Good Counsel met H. E. Cardinal Oswald Gracias, on 11th, of January and returned with assurance that he will discuss the issue with Bishops.
MONEY MAKES THE MARE GO. Does this Proverb Suitably apply to Archdiocese of Bombay?

To,                                                                                                    7th, January, 2013;
Most Rev. Cardinal Oswald Gracias
Archbishop of Bombay
Sub:  Matters related to OL of Good Counsel Church, Sion.
Your Eminence,
At the onset please accept our Greetings for the NEW YEAR. May our LORD JESUS CHRIST keep you in good health to tend to your flock and lead them spiritually.
Further to our letter of 29th October, 2012; related to subject matter, we regret to state that in spite of bringing to your notice, the conditional permission, by H. E. Cardinal Simon Pimenta, for a particular period which had expired before you could renew it. Unfortunately, our notice has been ignored, we perceive; because Eucharistic celebrations are still continued at Everard Nagar Colony.
Your Eminence, We are not against Eucharistic Celebrations, anywhere. However, this matter has created a division among the parishioners. The essence of unity which the Eucharistic celebration is meant to bring in has been lost. This effort of ours is to reunite the Divided Parish, which is the handiwork of vested interests within Parish Administration, both Clergy as well as Laity.
Your Eminence, we are not questioning your Expertise in Canon Law; but just to highlight the mischief of your advisers on this issue, reproducing related code of Canon Law.
Can. 897 The most August sacrament is the Most Holy Eucharist in which Christ the Lord himself is contained, offered, and received and by which the Church continually lives and grows. The eucharistic sacrifice, the memorial of the death and resurrection of the Lord, in which the sacrifice of the cross is perpetuated through the ages is the summit and source of all worship and Christian life, which signifies and effects the unity of the People of God and brings about the building up of the body of Christ. Indeed, the other sacraments and all the ecclesiastical works of the apostolate are closely connected with the Most Holy Eucharist and ordered to it.

The following Para is copied from Catholic exchange write up, captioned,Does Mass Have to be Said in a Church? This has helped us understand the law, and come to conclusion that permitting Eucharistic Celebrations on Daily Basis at Everard Nagar, is Violation of Codeof Canon Law.

http://catholicexchange.com/does-mass-have-to-be-said-in-a-church/

Canon 932.1 states that the Eucharistic celebration is to be carried out in a sacred place, unless a particular necessity requires otherwise, in which case it is to be held in another, suitable place. The most obvious “sacred place” is of course a church building; but this term also applies to chapels (called “oratories” in the code) that have been established as such by the diocesan bishop (cf. cc. 1223 and 1229). Such chapels are routinely found on college campuses, in hospitals, and in some countries even in airports and train stations.

Your Eminence, We humbly request you, in the interest of Unity amongst the parishioners, to review and revoke your Decree of 8th August, 2012; Permitting Celebration of Eucharist at Everard Nagar, on Daily Basis.

Yours always, in Our LORD JESUS CHRIST,

    are you pointing to discrimination against the poor in the Church or just asserting laws?

    GREG
    Both.

    then it would have helped for Silent Voice to show how having a mass in one place hurts the interests of the poor of the parish. Laws are made for the good of human beings and that good is the supreme law or we are not Christians.

    GREG

    We are not generalising but pointing out to anomalies in this particular case. This action of Parish authorities has divided the parishioners. We have been pursuing this matter with Archbishop, on behalf of the parishioners, who feel this is favouritism toward the particular class of people.
    Please go through entire matter related to OLGC, which is available on SV;

    As a believing Christian and Catholic I would be extremely wary of people imposing rules and laws to dictate the freedom of human beings as Children of GOD. We are not to be dictated by human agencies about where we pray or celebrate the memory of Jesus. This should be clear at the onset. Lest the trend we see that tries to destroy our God given freedom to worship and pray to Him as He inspires us becomes prevalent.

    But I accept your call to end any discrimination in worship, i.e. to grant privileges to a few at the cost of everyone else. That cannot be justified in Christian fellowship
