Bombay Archdiocese youth to visit Germany

Eleven students from Mumbai will leave on a 12-day trip to Germany June 15.

A group of city students will embark on a trip to Germany as part of the first ever international cultural exchange program initiated by the youth wing of the Archdiocese of Bombay.

Eleven students from Mumbai will leave on a 12-day trip to Germany June 15.

Adeline Lobo, 19, from St. Andrew’s College, Bandra, says “I am excited about going to Germany and staying with a local family there.”

Lobo, who will stay in Frankfurt for 15 days and return home on June 27, said “I will learn so much about their life and culture.”

This is the first time that the Archdiocese of Bombay and the Diocesan Youth Centre is taking their annual socio-cultural exchange program to an international scale.

“We decided that city youths should be given opportunities to gain international exposure, and this program will help expand their world views,” said Father Anthony Fernandes.

Fernandes, who is the, director of the Diocesan Youth Centre, will also be accompanying the students on the trip.

The trip to Germany is the second part of the exchange program.

In January, 12 German students representing the Diocese of Limburg visited Mumbai and toured cultural centres and temples.
