New CBCI official takes charge

The former vicar of Palayam St Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral Church in Thiruvananthapuram took charge at a function in the CBCI headquarters New Delhi June 1.

New Delhi:Fr. Joseph Chinnayayan, a priest of Trivandrum Latin archdiocese, has become the new deputy secretary general of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India.

The former vicar of the Palayam St Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral Church in Thiruvananthapuram took charge at a function in the CBCI headquarters New Delhi on June 1.

He succeeded Fr. Thomas d’Aquino Sequeira, a priest from Goa archdiocese, who held the post for the past six years.

Archbishop Vincent Concessao of Delhi, who was present at the function, said various jobs in the Church are opportunities to serve others.

Fr Chinnayayan, a doctor in canon law, thanked the CBCI officials for choosing him for the post.
